Communication ~ Wow, have I given this one some thought? And did I see a thousand perfect examples when I didn’t have a camera? You bet. Yesterday at the airport was a perfect example. A line of unhappy people with cell phones at their ear…. darn! Where was my camera? I left it with my son, Beau, also a camera enthusiast. Airports are always great places to take photos unless someone really doesn’t want their photo taken. I digress.

Verbal communication is one of the more obvious. This photo at left is one of my favorite photos. It is my dil Sue at her finest. She is communicating with young daughter Trinity on her level face to face and looking into her eyes and listening. Trinity is thrilled to have the undivided attention as any child is. The mirrors just multiplies the effect. So here we have the verbal communication that even with this kind of attention may not get through…. as all we married people know.

We have the non-verbal communication. I enjoy watching these take place. A touch of the hand, the way one stands, a facial expression, a child grabbing something from another doesn’t even have to say “Mine!”
Most especially I like the loving communications… ones that show a deep communication that needs no words.

Written communication- this is the communication that has suffered the most over the last few years. Between e-mails, online chat, phone text and other quickie style communication methods we seem to have lost the ability to really connect in our communicating. Not only that, but at the same time we lose it we seem to be always connected. Mothers understand the concept of no alone time, but now nobody has alone time. With cell phones, blackberries and the like, we can never disappear for a few minutes. “Where were you, you didn’t answer your phone?” I remember disappearing and feeling good that at that moment nobody knew where I was. The feeling of peace was wonderful.

One last late entry because after seeing Sally’s photo of Hunter, I had to include a very old one of my son Beau. They mimic us so well.

Okay, I’m done! Now it is time to wander around and see what you have done! I guess tomorrow I announce who will be setting the theme for next week!
