Orange is a very distinctive color! At first I think of citrus colors and then my mind turned to fall and pumpkins. [This photos were taken at the Wheaton Farmer's Market. ] Orange can be related to fall in so many ways. The leaves have many shades of orange in them depending on the tree. Orange is the color the hunters wear so they won’t be mistaken for the deer or whatever is in season. Orange is in the candy that gets handed out for Halloween. But then I thought about the orange I see now….

Orange reminds me of construction in the summer…. Detour, construction begins, no pass, lanes merge, lower speed, etc, etc, etc…. You will notice I don’t have any detour signs because I am so sick and tired of seeing them around here. Many of our east west streets are closed due to making even more round

abouts. The

one sign I didn’t see enough was the “end construction” sign. Doesn’t it just figure?

And last, but not least, I went to my stash and picked out just a few of my oranges.

Aren’t they pretty? I probably have the fewest fabrics in the orange range. The problem being many oranges tend toward red or orangy gold. I wish I had taken this out in the daylight so You could really see how truly vibrant the colors are.

Whoops!  One more.  How could I have forgotten the tie-in between aging and orange?  You may wonder what the cosmetic dispensers are doing in there, but in actuality, they are the same color as the prescription bottles and they are to prevent aging.  It isn’t working… I’m having another birthday on Monday despite all the creams and jells.

Orange is definitely an attention getter.  At it’s brightest it is a caution color (go figure) slow down for construction, beware hunters around,  it is delicious ~ oranges, pumpkins, tangerines…. , in art it adds beauty to a sunset, a still life…. it adds accent to a quilt, and it helps us “old” people find our pills!  I will never think of orange in quite the way I did before.
