I love Harry Potter.  I loved it from the first page.  It took me back to my childhood when I read all of the Oz books.  I could actually picture everything in the book… the mental pictures are so vivid.  I also love Harry Potter because it was a love of reading and sharing that I shared with my son, Beau.  We both devoured these books and couldn’t wait until the next one came out.  Even after he went off to college we stood in line together at a Walmart in Wilmington, NC to get the newest one.  These books jump started a whole rush for this same genre.  It also caught the interest of film makers everywhere.  Now many of the books I turned to after finishing Harry Potter are being made into movies!  Ink Heart is one example.  I can’t wait until Peter and the Star Catchers is made into a movie!  I just read on the site that it will be an animated 3D movie by Disney…  darn!

This preview appears darker than the actual movie. There was a lot of humor in this version.

I also noticed that Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak has been made into a movie. It appears to be a very thought provoking movie… directed and written by Spike Jonze. Click on link for movie trailer… the embed was disabled on request.

This next video, which I found on YouTube is why I love all of these books.  It is a trailer created by kids.  It is how they visualize the book Peter and the Starcatchers could be presented.  Although they probably broke a few copywrite rules using the music they did… they did an awesome job of presentation and mixing the text, music and their own brand of special effects.  This is how books positively affect children’s minds.
